2015 Highly Anticipated Movies

Posted on 11:22 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Star Wars should shatter records in 2015. It is a must-see movie. Fans have already started counting down. So, clear your calendar for The Force Awakens debuting December 18th.

Universal Pictures releases Fifty Shades of Grey on Valentine’s Day. Will the ‘sex tape’ live up to all the hype? Have you seen the trailer or read the novel?

There’s a lot of buzz about Get Hard. The comedy starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart comes out in March. It looks very funny.

If you’d like to see a funny sequel you can choose between Ted 2, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

Is Avengers: Age of Ultronup for the challenge? The Marvel movie premieres on May 1st. The project features several heavyweights.

Take your kids to see the Despicable Me spin-off Minions coming this summer. Also, this winter you can check out the SpongeBob Movie. Your family might like Jurassic World as well. Do you remember the Steven Spielberg directed films?

Hasta la vista, baby! Governor Schwarzenegger is back as the Terminator in Genisys. The pricy movie should outperform its competition.

Believe it or not, I haven’t seen the Hunger Games. Am I missing out? The highly anticipated Mockingjay Part 2 hits theaters on November 20th.

Kingsman: The Secret Service should be an action-packed international blockbuster. If you want more action, watch Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 5 this Christmas. Read upcoming movie reviews on my site.

I am Guru Jay launching off into orbit in 5-4-3-2-1!

Pepsi Vs. Coke Celebrities

Posted on 3:00 PM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Celebrity endorsements are very valuable. Brands are built on the backs of athletes and entertainers. That’s why as a celebrity it's important to know your worth.

Pepsi Co. and Coca Cola rule the soft-drink world. Because of their marketing campaigns, these beverages have worldwide recognition. They also have a stable of celebrities to ride.

Pepsi has a great position because it owns Gatorade. But Coke owns Vitamin Water and Sprite. So, there is a legitimate rivalry brewing.

These celebrities have endorsed Pepsi and Coke products...

Pepsi

Katy Perry

Beyonce

Britney Spears

Tiger Woods

Justin Timberlake

Peyton Manning

Serena Williams

Coke

Taylor Swift

Jennifer Lopez

Ryan Seacrest

Drake

LeBron James

50 Cent

The Interview Movie Review SPOILER ALERT

Posted on 1:17 PM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

The Interview came out on Christmas Day. There are multiple ways you can still view it. It has good acting and jokes abound.

SPOILER ALERT

Hollywood stars Seth Rogen and James Franco shine in the comedy. Give credit to Randall Park for a job well done. My favorite scene is when the Supreme Leader (Park) and Dave Skylark (Franco) hangout. The tiger part with Aaron Rapoport (Rogan) was funny too.

It gets crazy near the end. Rapoport tries to stop a Korean cameraman from shutting down the broadcast. And, the man starts biting off Rapoport’s fingers. Then, Rapoport retaliates.

I told you it was crazy. The film reminds me a lot of Pineapple Express. You can’t buy the chemistry between Seth and James.

Lizzy Caplan and Diana Bang add value to the Interviewcast as well. I would like to see more of their work. Both actresses have a bright future.

If Seth Rogen is a creative genius, then director Evan Goldberg is a mastermind. It is a nice collaboration. And, it’s worth watching.

If you want a shameful laugh, go see The Interview. This movie is twisted. Overall, it’s a fine production if you’re into spoofs.

I give The Interview starring James Franco and Seth Rogan a busy B. The over-the-top comedy satisfies your hunger. But, it leaves you thirsty.

Why Guardians of the Galaxy was #1

Posted on 7:14 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

2014 belonged to Guardians of the Galaxy. The Marvel movie, which made nearly $775 million, was the highest grossing movie of the year. Chris Pratt demonstrated his on screen prowess. And Zoe Saldana showed why she is on top of the fantasy world.

It was an absolute must-see movie. The prison break scene was epic. Rocket Raccoon played by Bradley Cooper stole the show. Although Vin Diesel was unrecognizable as Groot, he was good nonetheless.

Why Guardians of the Galaxy was #1

Music + movies= success. I haven’t heard a better soundtrack than Guardians of the Galaxy in a long time. I give the music an A+.

B-School students should take note of Guardians of the Galaxy’s marketing campaign. Producers didn’t waste a single dollar. This movie could have easily cost Marvel $300 million. Instead, the film was made with a conservative budget of $150 million.

Thanks to casting there was a nice mixture of talent. But, the screenplay missed the mark. Why am I so hard on screenwriters?

With that said, I give the movie a solid B+. I enjoyed the scenes. It was a wonderful experience with amazing computer graphics.

If you want a fun family and action-packed film go with Guardians. It is a highly creative motion picture. This is Hollywood’s finest.

Guardians of the Galaxy was number 1 because everyone could enjoy it. It was a rare film that appeals to grandma and grandson. I highly recommend this highest grossing movie.

Have you seen Guardians? Will you buy it on blue-ray? What was the best part?

Mariah Carey Vs. Alicia Keys

Posted on 10:05 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Alicia Keys has the voice of an angel. Mariah Carey has the voice of a goddess. With that said, I still would rather see Keys in concert.

Carey is notorious for lip-synching. Alicia plays the piano in addition to hitting high notes for a hobby. But, in the studio it is a different story.

Mariah has made many great albums. Now, Alicia Keys can do wonders in the studio as well. I just appreciate Mariah Carey’s career.

The My All songstress blazed the trail for Alicia and Beyoncé. She worked harder to get to the top. So, let’s recognize Carey’s contributions.

Carey is the greatest female vocalist. This doesn’t mean she can sing better than Keys. It just means that Mariah’s voice is more flexible. She can stretch her vocal chords farther.

The Girl on Fire songstress owns her songs. She’s more in control of her pitch, tone and mechanics than Mariah. However, Carey is scary when she’s at her best.

Have you ever seen a bad Alicia Key’s performance? I’ve never seen her bomb. The poetic singer is persistent and consistent. I enjoy listening to Alicia’s songs because of their brilliant lyrics. She is a superb songwriter.

That’s why there’ s no comparison. Alicia Keys usurped Mariah Carey after the ‘No One’ hit. Since then, Alicia’s been headed one direction.

So, for the record I listen to both singers. They are tremendously talented. I choose Alicia over Mariah, because I like her body of work better.

Why Carrie Underwood Is a 10

Posted on 8:18 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Carrie Underwood won American Idol in 2005. Now, the Country music singer is arguably the best female vocalist in the world. She excels as songwriter and occasional actress as well.

Over the years, Carrie has created a sweet girl image. You never see her flaunting or engaging in debauchery. Can you remember the last time you heard a peep out of her? Carrie’s the girl I’d take home to meet mom.

The former American Idol is an American sweetheart. She’s also an All-American. If you need cheering up, listen to Carrie. She is like a Cowboys' cheerleader.

Let’s do some math. Carrie collects fans like bottle caps. She has over 4 million Twitter followers. What is more, Underwood has more than 11 million Facebook likes. Finally, The Jesus Take the Wheelsuperstar has over 310 million YouTube views.

Carrie deserves more credit for her acting. She reminds me of a younger Reese Witherspoon. You should watch Sound of Music Live. It is a wonderful story. And, she dazzles in it.

Truth be told, Carrie is one of my top 10 favorite Country music stars. Her performances cannot be duplicated. She’s an original.

Also, she does great duets. Carrie brings listeners to ecstasy. When she sings, it’s like reading the Great Gatsby for the first time.

Carrie Underwood put Country music on the map! Today, the genre is more popular because of musicians such as Carrie. Will Dolly Parton pass the torch to Underwood?
