Is Margot Robbie the Next Nicole Kidman?

Posted on 6:24 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Is Margot Robbie the next Nicole Kidman? The young and talented actress has a good resume. She’s literally a box office attraction. Australia produces some fine actresses.

Aussie actresses should gather at Nicole Kidman’s home so that Kidman can share her secrets. Wouldn’t it be great if actresses actually collaborated? There’s so much competition out there. That’s why Margot Robbie and Emily Browning can’t reveal their true feelings toward each other.

Nicole Kidman’s been ‘there and done that’  for all Aussie actresses. She did most of the grunt work so that this generation of stars could relax. So, Margot Robbie doesn’t have to serve as an Australian ambassador if she doesn’t want to…Kidman has it all under control.

What’s your favorite Nicole Kidman movie? I think she’s wonderful in the Stepford Wives. I want to remake Stepford Wives with Margot.

I don’t know if Robbie will build a stronger brand than Kidman. Kidman has over 30 years of experience in show business. It would be nice to see Nicole play Margot’s mother.

We got  to see the hot starlet play Leo DiCaprio’s wife in the Wolf of Street.

She stars as lead actress alongside Will Smith in Focus. She plays love interest Jane in Tarzan. Have you noticed how many mega budget movies she does?

They offer Margot big roles because she  deserves it. Before film she was on television. She’s been a professional actress since 17.

I also would like to revive the Australia movie. This time Margot Robbie will play the lead alongside Chris Hemsworth. But there’s a catch. I want Quentin Tarantino to direct.

Kristen Stewart Vs. Jennifer Lawrence BATTLE of the SEXIEST

Posted on 3:07 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we have a battle of the sexiest. Let's get ready to rumble!!! It's showtime...

In the red corner, she's the Twilight Saga blood sucker...standing at 5 feet 5 inches short...weighing in at 120 pounds...24 years young...from Los Angeles, California girl/ Disneyland's Kristen Stewart!

In the blue corner, best known for the Hunger Games with People's sexiest man Liam Hemsworth...standing 5 feet 9 inches tall...weighing 139 pounds...24 year-old Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence!

BATTLE of the SEXIEST

Who's the best looking? Who's sexier? Who's the most talented?

Pound for pound, I give KStew the nod for attractiveness and sexiness. Her beautiful blue eyes and long flowing hair makes me believe in fairytales. If Stewart wants it bad enough, she could be our generation's Audrey Hepburn.

But, JLaw is the best actress. Kristen could learn how to act from Jennifer Lawrence. Studios want to get their hands on JLaw like the new Iphone. She's a director's dream.

Have you seen Silver Linings Playbook? You won't find a better looking 21 year old on the silver screen than Jennifer. JLaw rocks a brunette hair color and turns more heads than DJango Unchained.

Someday KStew and JLaw will make a movie together. I'd bet both would compromise their salaries for art's sake. Artistically, I see Kristen as surpassing pretty woman Julia Roberts.

The media constantly covers JLaw and neglects KStew. They're doing fans a disservice. Wouldn't you like to hear more about Kristen Stewart?

Nowadays if you want good news, you have to know where to look. Aren't you tired of seeing the same story? Go to GuruJay.com and I guarantee you won't get bored. Search the blog archive for more fun.

I am Guru Jay and I don't join the discussion. I start it. And sometimes I finish it. I am Guru Jay launching off into orbit in 5-4-3-2-1!

Why I Won't Review Exodus Or Watch Marco Polo

Posted on 12:34 AM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

Mel Gibson got it right with Passion of the Christ. Director Gibson realized the power of language and used it to his advantage. He brilliantly selected Aramaic because that's what Jesus spoke.

In 2001, moviegoers didn't mind reading subtitles. I don't mind reading subtitles at all. In fact, sometimes I watch American films with subtitles because I value the price of words.

I would write a review of Exodus but I won't watch the movie unless I get free tickets. Why? To be frank, Moses did not speak English. Why would I go see an unrealistic portrayal of a great man?

Marco Polo

After seeing the first 10 minutes of NetFlix's Marco Polo, I turned off my device. How dare they insult the great Genghis Khan and his descendants. Don't watch Marco Polo unless you're high. Otherwise, you don't value your time or money. At this point, I might cancel NetFlix.

English shouldn't be the default language of all screenplays. Here's an idea Hollywood. Why don't you write the first draft in English and pay a translator. You outsource everything else!

Why I refuse to review Exodus or watch Marco Polo

I won't review Exodus because Moses spoke Hebrew last time I checked. I can't even finish the whole trailer. And I refuse to see a full episode of Marco Polo because I never heard of a Mongol speaking English. Mel Gibson is a lot of things. But he's right about one thing...

Eat Right

Posted on 3:05 PM by Paul Fastir
BY: GURU JAY

The best insurance is taking care. Exercising and eating right can help prevent sickness. An active body and mind benefits the soul. Health care works when the person cares about being healthy. If someone keeps fit and diets well, then the person should feel energetic.

Still, sometimes taking care is not enough. That's why doctors and nurses make a difference. Health insurance makes finding a doctor easier. Make health a number one priority. Take care of life. After all, everyone has one life to live. Also, not everyone should go to the gym right away.

Too many gym memberships are wasted. Joining a fitness center requires proper timing. Don't waste time. Don't waste money. Health and timing go hand and hand. Next chance while on the treadmill, pay attention to the built-in clock. When cooking dinner you may set the timer on the stove. Oh yeah, add some vegetables to the recipe. No matter what, it is always a good time to get healthy.

Just be devoted and it will work. Having a positive attitude increases the likelihood of success. So, you have to get insurance; it is vital. As long as you have a pulse beat, you need insurance that you will have a heart beat. Have you ever heard that song it goes like... “Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah staying alive. Staying alive (x2). Staying Ali---ve!” Listen to the lyrics. Live the lyrics. Stay alive.

I like the song because the beat and the words are joyful. Taking care means so much to insuring your health. “PREVENTION IS THE BEST MEDICINE.” In other words, your choice to live healthier is better than a prescription. Statistics show Americans as a group are overweight.

Many experts say do not focus on the negative that is LOSING WEIGHT. Instead, focus on what is positive- getting the right size for you. Check to see if your insurance pays for personal trainers. Be ready to be pushed by your trainer, but understand it is in your best interest.

Before joining get as much information as you can. I cannot stress it enough, we need to eat right. Whether you shop at Whole Foods or the local grocery store, keep in mind what you are buying and putting into your body.

If you have to drink sugary drinks, because it is a habit, try to do it in moderation. Staying smart is the key. I have heard from the lips of health care officials; eating healthy matters more than exercising in terms of fitness and body weight. Everybody is different.

Some have a fast metabolism. Others have a slow metabolism. Know yourself- your body, mind, and soul. So, I say if it is said PREVENTION IS THE BEST MEDICINE, then PREPARATION IS THE BEST HEALTH INSURANCE. Take care.

Do You Like Science Fiction And Fantasy?

Posted on 6:00 AM by Paul Fastir

Let’s go on an adventure. First, I’ll take you to the moon. Then, we’ll tour our solar system. Let’s hope we don’t get lost in a black hole. Worst-case scenario, we’ll end up in a perpendicular world inside a parallel universe.

Close your eyes and imagine. This is your time. So, take it. Soar above the stars and glide next to the cosmos. Launch into space and collect some stardust.

Along the journey, take a few pictures and put them on  [Pinterest], [Twitter] and [Instagram]. Our trip is sponsored by: NASA, Albert Einstein, and John Lennon.

Watch out for the asteroids. Because there’s so much out there in space, it’s easy to get spaced-out. Outer space is like the Wild West multiplied by a trillion. Be prepared for a bumpy ride. It’s the best rollercoaster ride of all time.

When you awaken let’s get back down to earth. Who doesn’t love to fantasize? Albert Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge. John Lennon’s [Imagine] is a timeless classic, because imagination never gets old.

Have you ever dreamed of [time travel]? There are so many good movies about time travel.  [Back to the Future series] and [Time Cop] are my favorites. I haven’t seen [The Time Traveler’s Wife], but critics love it.

Would you like to know what is to come? [Gattaca], [In Time], and [Equilibrium] take you on a quest. Each has a unique depiction of the future. However, their perspectives are the same. In essence, in these films society is overtaken by technology.

Steve Jobs used technology as a means to increase the quality of life for millions upon millions. I believe in the notion proposed by Walt Disney “If you can dream it, you can do it. Jobs, the founder of Pixar saw the big picture and dreamed.

Steve Jobs changed history by dreaming up [Pixar], the [iPhone], and [Ipad]. His product lines will live forever. He made many everlasting footprints in our universe.

Star Wars Vs. Star Trek

Posted on 2:37 AM by Paul Fastir

Star Wars Vs. Star Trek

What’s your pick, Star Wars or Star Trek? As a movie critic, I admire both series. I believe they complement each other. What would Stars Wars be without Star Trek, and vice-versa? The answer: a monopoly.

Nobody likes monopolies. People want choices. Picture only drinking Pepsi. There’s been a universal ban of Coca-Cola. We can go to McDonald's, but Burger King has gone out of business. That would be the day!

You see Star Trek needs Star Wars just as much as summer needs winter? Rather than picking one, let’s appreciate it all.

Star Wars offers something valuable and so does Star Trek. Its characters Darth Vader, Yoda and R2-D2 fascinate me. James Earl Jones’ voice is legendary.

What is Star Trek’s answer: Spock. Oh yeah, William Shatner wasn’t too bad either.

On the flip side, Spock. Spock exemplifies the future of space travel. He’s the leader you want in case of an all out galactic universal war.

Star Trek has the most devoted fans. Star Wars’ fans seem flaky. Numbers matter in the entertainment industry.

In financial terms, Star Wars leaves Star Trek behind in the Star Dust. By the way, who is a fan of Star Dust? Star Wars is worth $30 billion.

From a marketing perspective, Star Wars has a clear advantage. Who remembers taking a Star Wars lunchbox to Kindergarten? Merchandise is a big part of the equation.

As a child, I had Star Wars’ toys. Does Star Trek even make toys? Call me superficial, but I am in awe at the commercial success of Star Wars.

Star Wars captures your imagination. That’s why it’s better. And, It’s bigger too.

The Will Smith Comeback Story

The Will Smith Comeback Story

Will Smith will start the New Year off on a bad foot. There’s a good chance the Focus movie, starring Smith and Margot Robbie will flop. To sum it up, Smith soaked up all the money.

I love Will Smith’s acting. I hate his agent’s negotiation skills. The actor missed out on prime opportunities in the past and present.

Let’s say Smith makes $35 million + 10 percent at the box office for every movie. Well, what’s the rest of the cast making? I’m on the fence about this film because I’ve seen it already. It was called Ocean’s Eleven.

The Focus cast lack star power. Can you believe Focus was made with a $100 million budget? Hollywood’s got a problem.

In 2013, Robert Downey, Jr. received $75 million for reprising the role of Iron Man. The highest paid actor only starred in one movie. You could give some actors $5 million for Iron Man; and they will do a better job than Bob.

Will Smith and Robert Downey, Jr. are a splitting image of each other. They demand maximum money at the film’s detriment. Is Will’s heart still in acting?

The people on top don’t have a clue about what’s really happening. They’re writing checks, looking at names, and that’s it. I wonder if Ty Pennington can give Hollywood an extreme makeover.

The movie industry’s in bad shape. The problem is not the actors, but it’s the acting. Why do Aussies play American roles? Tom Hanks never uses an Australian accent.

Will Smith deserves a top payday. However, Hollywood needs to come back to reality. Give these actors a salary cap like the NBA and NFL.

Will Smith can walk away in the sunset with sunglasses and flip-flops. But that doesn’t change the fact he’s overpaid. Those flip flops he’s wearing probably cost around $500.

I don’t blame Will Smith per say. He sets a high bar. He shows why work ethic still triumphs over talent. Lately, he's been bench-pressing and producing results.

Based on what I’ve gathered, I give the movie a C+ or potential B -. The Will Smith we used to know loved giving fans a show. Let’s not be too hard on him because he chose a bad film.

Will Smith’s filmography as a lead actor is exceptional. He consistently wins at the box office. You see Smith can sell out a crowd.

I wonder what Will Smith can't do. He has a can-do attitude. Hollywood feels an earthquake each time Smith leaves for Philadelphia.

20 years ago Will Smith received a warm welcome from the movie industry. Hollywood was ecstatic to have the West Philadelphia kid on their block. His strong TV fan base translated into box office success.

It’s no secret that charisma wins fans. The multi-talented Smith uses charms like a leprechaun. Is he half-Irish?

Before TV and movies, Will Smith made music. As a rapper he created songs like Parents Just Don’t Understand and Summer Time. Unfortunately, despite his success Will Smith went bankrupt. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air TV show let him redeem himself.

Everybody should get a second chance. This time Will Smith let money work for him. Nowadays, he picks and chooses roles.

The family man selects characters with positive images. By and large, he usually plays the protagonist. Fortunately Will Smith produced many good movies. He co-produced Annie.

The action hero maintains a high fitness level. Did you see the star in I am Legend? He’s at his absolute best. He shows why he doesn’t always do comedy.

I recommend Seven Pounds. If you like drama and suspense, you’ll appreciate this film. He makes a connection with Rosario Dawson which will give you Goosebumps.

While Will Smith never won an Academy Award, he was nominated for Ali and Pursuit of Happyness. He’s on the A list.

Buy and hold Dwayne Johnson’s stock. The Rock snatched up many of the Fresh Prince’s roles. That’s why Johnson appeared in Forbes.

He’s younger than Will Smith. Plus he’s built like the Hulk. At the moment, Dwayne Johnson is more popular than Smith.

I stand by my prediction, Channing Tatum will become the highest paid actor. His agent seems to negotiate fair deals. You could argue he is the most popular figure in Hollywood.

I don’t think Tatum took Smith’s parts. But, I believe screenwriters now develop scripts with Channing in mind. The writers used to love writing only for Will Smith.

There’s more to Smith than a dollar ($) sign. He’s a persistent workaholic. So, I recognize Will Smith as a brand as well as a person.

From day one, he’s been an awakening force. I wonder if he could act in Star Wars. Science Fiction films were his niche for a long time.

Smith secured a main role for Marvel. He will play DC comic’s Black Adam. The Hancock star’s experience is his best asset.

If Will’s acting career ended today, he could still call himself one of the greatest actors of all time. Did you see The Legend of Bagger Vance or Hitch? The Men in Black franchise along with Independence Day gained Smith instant fame.

Screen Rant reported Will Smith is not a part of the Independence Day 2 cast. After 17 years, Fox finally decides to remake a Will Smith movie but without the superstar. That takes a lot of guts but no glory.

Maybe, they call themselves saving money. Fans speculate Smith demanded too much cash. But, I’m not buying that idea.

Here’s the problem. The movie executives are underestimating Will Smith’s appeal. And, at the same time Smith is overestimating his abilities. That’s why an agent is so important. In the scheme of things, I’d rather have Channing Tatum’s agent.

Remember Will Smith gives you his best. Sometimes you fail even when you do everything right. In order to succeed, you must learn from failure. I admire Will Smith because if he’s down and out, he’ll make a comeback.
